Ann Marie Brancato, age 67, passed away in Staten Island University Hospital on July 2, 2025, after a sudden illness.
Ann Marie was born in Brooklyn, New York, on December 7, 1957, to Anna Sobieski (nee Penta) and Henry Sobieski.
She attended high school at St. John Villa Academy on Staten Island, New York, graduating in 1975, and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree (Management and Finance) at St. John's University in 1979. She studied Behavioral Finance at Harvard University (2003-2005) and attended the Investments and Securities Institute at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania (2007-2011).
Ann Marie started her career as a Retirement Planning Specialist at Advest, Inc., in 1984. She joined RBC Wealth Management as First Vice President—Investments in 2006. In 2016 she joined Janney, Montgomery, Scott, LLC, as First Vice President—Wealth Management.
Ann Marie was an Accredited Asset Management Specialist (AAMS®) and an exceptional Financial Advisor. She was beloved by her clients who were always first in her heart and mind. She was a loving, generous, and caring individual, and she leaves behind many dear cousins, friends, and coworkers, as well as many friends in the Hustle dance community.
Ann Marie was predeceased by her parents, Anna and Henry Sobieski, and her brother, John Sobieski. She was married to Frank Brancato from 1984 to 1993. Ann Marie is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Christine and George Potaris, and her nieces, Amanda and Alexandra Potaris. She was interred in her family's plot in Green-Wood Cemetery (Lot 38911, Section 5, Grave 1), Brooklyn, New York, after a private graveside service.
Ann Marie was devoted to God's Love We Deliver, a charitable organization whose volunteers prepare and deliver nutritious, high-quality meals to people who, due to illness, are unable to prepare meals for themselves.
