Dolores J. Mason (née Wilson), a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and woman of faith, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2026, in her home in Staten Island, New York. She was 90 years old.
Born on January 8, 1936, in Staten Island, Dolores was a lifelong resident of the borough and grew up in the West Brighton neighborhood. She graduated from Curtis High School and earned her bachelor's degree from SUNY Oswego, laying the foundation for a life dedicated to family, faith, and service.
A poised woman of God, Dolores's faith guided her throughout her life. She was an active member of Mt. Calvary Holy Church in Staten Island before becoming the founding mother of Heart of Worship Church in 2013. Her devotion to God and her community left a lasting impact on all who knew her. Dolores found joy in spreading the Gospel of Jesus and cherished worshiping and sharing her faith with others.
Dolores was also a talented and creative individual who enjoyed crocheting, knitting, reading, and traveling. These hobbies brought her peace and fulfillment as she lovingly crafted items for family and friends or explored new places while embracing life's adventures. Above all else, she treasured time spent with loved ones—her greatest source of joy.
She is survived by her son Michael Mason, her daughter Meredith Gamble, her grandchildren; Calvin Mason, Ashley Mason, and Mikal Gamble as well as her great-granddaughter Sophia Mason; and her sisters Gloria Wilson and Georgiana Hanulak. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Carl Mason; her parents George and Margaret Wilson; her brother George Wilson; and her sister Beverly Wilson Wright.
Dolores's legacy as a loving matriarch will be fondly remembered by those blessed to know her. Her life was a testament to love, faith, and grace—a shining example that will inspire generations to come.
