Kenneth Lee Clemons Sr. passed away at age 67 on May 19, 2026. He was born on March 11, 1959, in Staten Island, New York, to Doris Anderson (née Douglas) and Jimmie Lee Clemons.

Raised in the Mariners Harbor neighborhood of Staten Island, Kenneth attended P.S.44 and I.S.27 before moving to Jacksonville, Florida, for his teenage years. He graduated from high school in Florida and joined the U.S. Army as a private for a brief period. After returning to Staten Island, Kenneth met his future wife, Edith, in 1982 while they were both working at the Golden Gate Healthcare Center. The couple married in August of 1986. He later worked in several NYPD precincts before joining the Environmental Services department at Staten Island University Hospital’s North Campus. He retired in 2005 due to illness.

Despite his sickness, Kenneth was steadfast in living his life and having adventures. Called Kenny by close friends and family, he was known for his passion for deep-sea fishing, taking annual sailing trips with friends and family out into the North Atlantic. He took the most pride in caring for a variety of fresh- and saltwater fish in his homemade aquariums over the years.

An avid music collector, Kenneth loved spinning his records on weekend mornings, making mixtapes for friends of classic Motown hits and forgotten Soul and R&B tracks. His love of cooking blossomed during the holidays, specializing in southern comfort food. He was a devoted, lifelong Miami Dolphins fan and cherished his collection of Dolphins memorabilia. He touched so many lives, and his memory will live on through the stories, music, meals, and moments he shared with all of us.

Kenneth is survived by his wife Edith J. (née Gumbs), his children Shanee Clemons, Nicole Clemons, and Kenneth Clemons Jr., his grandson Jayden Lee, his siblings, Ronald Coleman (Porsha), Paula Massey, Michael Clemons (Michelle), and Tracie Johnson, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, May 27th, from 3:00 to 8:00 pm at Matthew Funeral Home Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard. Thank you for your prayers, love, and support during this time.
