A funeral service with cremation is essentially the same type of service as a traditional funeral service, except the funeral service does not conclude at a cemetery. Having this traditional service with cremation still allows you to have a viewing with an open casket. Here are some of the basic elements of having a traditional funeral service with cremation:
- Calling hours of visitation
- A formal service with an open casket shall you desire either at the funeral home or a place of worship
- Funeral service to conclude before the cremation process at the funeral home, place of worship or at the crematory
A traditional funeral service with cremation may include the following items:
- A rental casket (Please see description below) or purchase of a regular casket
- Transfer of the deceased to the funeral home
- Embalming (which is not required by law)
- Dressing, cosmetology and other care of the deceased
- Use of visitation rooms
- General use of the facilities for the service
- Funeral service
- Memorial folders, Service Programs and/or prayer cards
- Newspaper Obituary
- A selection of flowers and other tributes
*A rental casket is used primarily for viewing and/or funeral services prior to cremation and consists of two parts. The first part is the outer shell which looks just like a regular wood casket however it has no interior lining. The second part is a separate container that fits inside the outer casket shell and has an interior lining and pillow. After the viewing and/or services, the inner unit, containing your loved one remains intact, and is removed from the outer shell and is cremated with the body.*
