Casey, Marvin Louis It is with great heartache that the Casey family announces the passing of Marvin Louis Casey, known to his grandchildren as “Zayda” on June 19, 2021. Marvin was born to Forest and Homer Casey on March 24th, 1944 in St. Louis, Missouri and raised in Herculaneum, Missouri before moving to Staten Island, New York at the age of 12. He attended P.S.18 and Curtis H.S. Marvin enlisted in the US army at the age of 20 and served two tours in the Vietnam war as an Army Ranger and was awarded the purple heart for his combat service. Upon returning to civilian life he met and married Betty Olevia Laird from Newport, Arkansas in summer 1977, and ultimately settled in St. Louis, Missouri, where they had 2 children; Marvin Louis Casey the II and Christina Elizabeth Casey. Marvin worked for the USPS for 30+ years while also coaching little league baseball for a number of years. He was a devoted husband and father, and an avid bow and rifle hunter, who also enjoyed boating and fishing. Marvin is predeceased by his wife, Betty Casey, brothers Homer and Ron and sister Irene Watts Marvin is survived by his son, Marvin L. Casey II and daughter, Christina E. Casey and sister Barbara Mcdonald, brother Terrain Casey, sister-in-Laws Ruth Casey and Maryann Casey and his grandchildren Roy, Batya and Hillel Casey, and a host of nieces and nephews.
