Please share a memory of Amelia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Amelia Capano, born January 15, 1922 in Brooklyn, NY, passed away March 20, 2022 at
100 years of age. Mae, as she was known to all, was married to Dominick Capano who
passed away in 1984.
Mae had five children Gerri DiMaria (Red); Donna O’Donnell (Danny); Vincent “Skip”
Capano (Carrie) Capano; Elaine Capano and Patricia Capano. Her son Richard (Ricky)
Capano passed away last month. In addition to her children, Mae leaves behind 17
grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. She was
preceded in death by 5 brothers and 1 sister.
Mae had three hobbies: her grandchildren, cooking, and shopping with Uncle
”Clear-ance.” She loved hosting big holiday parties, sometimes with as many as 35 people,
for dinner. It was not uncommon for Mae to have sleepover parties with family sleeping on
couches, floors and lounge chairs so everyone could be together for the holidays.
Before her husband passed, Mae enjoyed spending time at their Cranberry Lake House
where they would host huge Italian BBQs. She never had hamburgers and hot dogs
without a dish of spaghetti or baked ziti first.
Mae loved to travel with Dom when he went on business trips. They visited Japan several
times and had many friends there. Her trips all over the US, especially California, were
also a joy. She even took Ricky and her young granddaughters when she went to
conventions at Colleges all over the U.S.
Mae always dreamed of making it to the age of 100, which she celebrated in January with
her loving family.
