Obituary of Sherelle Carter

Sherelle Carter Obituary / Eulogy Sherelle Angela Carter was born on October 22, 1975 in East London, England, to loving parents, Marilyn Carter and Henrick Defreitas. Sherelle, affectionately known as Sherry, was the eldest child to the couple, until she was promoted to older sister when her brother, Joel, was born 3 years later. She attended Sybourn Primary School as a young girl and enjoyed playing netball (basketball), riding her bicycle and spending time with her brother, cousins and friends.

 

After relocating to Staten Island, New York as a teenager, Sherry attended Curtis High School where she was enrolled in a specialized nursing program. Following high school, she decided to pursue a career in the healthcare industry, wherein she excelled in positions, such as personal care assistant, medical assistant and home health aide in Brooklyn, New York. Sherry’s nurturing spirit, friendly demeanor and kindness enabled her to provide empathic care to those experiencing challenging health struggles. During her days off, Sherry would frequently spend time with her youngest brother and sister, Alex and Lita. Often, she would take them on many adventures, including Coney Island as she loved the beach.

 

Sherry fiercely loved her family and genuinely uplifted her friends. A true jokester at heart, she found great happiness in being in their company, and could often be found making everyone laugh. Sherry was known to brighten entire rooms with her presence, especially with her contagious and unique laugh. She was known to joyously laugh with her entire being and others couldn’t help but to join in. In her spare time, Sherry loved to read a variety of genres, as well as write poetry from time to time. She could also spend hours flipping through family photos in which she wholeheartedly cherished her many albums. Sherry could also be found listening to her favorite artists, Michael Jackson and Chris Brown, their upbeat music bringing her immense joy.

 

Though at times reserved and quietly reflective, Sherry beamed with radiance and charisma. To know Sherry was to love her. Her witty sense of humor and charming spirit drew so many to people her. Sherry will be dearly missed and loved, always. She is survived by her parents, Marilyn Williams and Henrick Defreitas, stepfather, Irving Williams Jr., brothers, Joel Carter and Irving “Alex” Williams III, and sister, Geelita “Lita” Williams, as well as a host of other loving family members including aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
